Employee Name: Jack Spears
Employee Job Title: Security Officer
Name of site and Customer: The Range Stowmarket
Nominated by: Ryan Murphy
Reason for Nomination: Jack demonstrated exceptional observation skills and professionalism, which led to the prevention of an attempted theft of multiple items from SMDC. During a routine search, Jack noticed that an employee appeared nervous when the search wand passed near a specific pocket. Acting on his instincts and experience, Jack conducted a more thorough search of that pocket and discovered several concealed items, including three bottles of essential oils, a Glade refill, and a stick of deodorant.
Following the procedure, Jack immediately informed me and, without being instructed, monitored the search room via CCTV while I completed the remainder of the search. His vigilance and quick thinking ensured the safety of his team lead (me) during what could have been a higher-risk situation. Ultimately, this led to the recovery of numerous additional items hidden on the employee’s person and in their bag.
Jack went above and beyond his duties, demonstrating initiative, teamwork, and a strong commitment to security standards. I believe his actions deserve recognition as Employee of the Month.
Employee Name: Mohammed Yousif
Employee Job Title: Security Officer

Nominated by: Louise Eagles
Reason for Nomination: Studio 51 was threatened with antisocial behaviour via social media platforms during October. In the first weekend of November, Fireworks Night fast approached. When all was thought to be quiet from 11 pm, the behaviour outside the student accommodation became extremely dangerous. Yousif had great communication with me and the control room during his shift. Gangs on the streets of Birmingham were throwing fireworks at the building and at the police outside the reception area. Yousif remained calm under these circumstances and protected not just the building but also the students. He ensured that students remained inside to avoid any injuries and secured the doors of the accommodation to ensure no unwanted visitors or fireworks entered the building. His good work and commitment to the student accommodation were noted by the client, and I feel that his work on this evening deserves this nomination.

The student had confidence in Adam and confided in him when they were unable to access the correct medical treatments. Adam’s support was recognised as excellent by the site team; he even stayed behind without being asked to ensure that the student received the correct medical attention. Adam continues to provide outstanding support to the student daily; without this support, the outcome could have been unthinkable.
